About the Release
Fermentation is a hypnotic collision of psychedelic folk, drone and experimental music, built around Jake Blanchard’s electric shahi baaja, harmonium, percussion and an array of effects. Buzzing strings, rolling riffs and dense drones move between ecstatic intensity and hazy, meditative passages, drawing together Indian-inspired textures with a distinctly contemporary experimental approach. Rather than relying on extended improvisations, the album was assembled from shorter recordings over several years, giving its free-flowing sound a more deliberate structure.

About the Artist
Jake Blanchard is a self-taught musician and illustrator from Todmorden, West Yorkshire, whose work spans experimental music, psychedelic folk, drone and improvisation. He is also known for his distinctive album artwork for artists including Richard Dawson, Pelt and Mike Gangloff, and is a co-founder of the wider TOR collective alongside Sophie Cooper. Blanchard builds his own instruments and works extensively with shahi baaja and harmonium, bringing the same exploratory approach to his music as to his visual work.
