About the Release
Worried Sick is the debut full-length from Launceston’s Meres, blending fuzzed-out guitars, grunge, punk and indie rock into their own brand of “snack-rock”. Brooding, dissonant passages collide with sharp melodies, driving rhythms and darkly funny observations, while the lyrics move through anxiety, identity, relationships, climate dread and the absurdity of everyday life. The result is a restless, emotionally charged record that can be as catchy as it is uncomfortable.

About the Artist
Hailing from northern Lutruwita/Tasmania, Meres are a four-piece comprising Mary Shannon (guitar and vocals), Sheridan Kerr (bass), Cody Mills (guitar) and James Matuszek (drums). Formed around Shannon’s songwriting, the band have developed a sound that draws from ’90s grunge, alternative rock, punk and indie while retaining a distinctly offbeat pop sensibility. After a series of singles and shorter releases dating back to 2018, Worried Sick marked the band’s debut full-length.
